Clearly naptime

Toddlers say and do the funniest things. I was at my computer today (just a few minutes ago) and it was close to Jax's nap time. He was in the other room playing, but then started to whine. He continued to play and whine for about 5 minutes, and then came into the office where I was sitting. He had his blankie in one hand and his sippy cup of water in the other. He looked up at me with his cute sleepy eyes and said,
"Mommy, I take a nap."
I just had to laugh at his cute little voice and adorable face, and sure enough I picked him up, gave him a nice snuggle and put him in his crib and he was out! Okay, so don't think this happens all the time. This is not typical behavior, this was a first. He's always been a good sleeper but this was so unexpected. What a funny little guy. And what a great highlight to my day.

A big day for Jax!

We had a fun day with Jax on his big second birthday. The highlight was watching him enjoy his new basketball hoop.

He loved his balloons!
This was his basketball cake. He didn't want to eat a single bite of it, but it sure was fun to make for him.

He loved helping me put together this poster. He kept saying in his cute little voice, "Jax is 2, Jax is 2..."

He couldn't wait for Jared to put it together. He loved shooting hoops.

The boat ride at the zoo. He kept saying "boat mommy"

Oh, and yes we got our power back on yesterday, so that was a relief. Happy birthday Jax man! We love you.

I can't believe my baby is 2. More birthday pics to come...

Since when...

do you have to be poor to be patriotic???
Joe Biden wants rich Americans to "be more patriotic" by paying more taxes. This thinking is just wrong on so many levels.

Lights?? Please??

Come on AEP, I really really want my power back on! Can you hurry up please. 5 days is just too long without power.!

Sandbox....or pool?

It's both when you leave the top off and it rains cats and dogs.
This didn't stop Jax from getting right in when he was out back helping Jared pick up sticks.
I think he likes the non-flooded sandbox a little better.

If you ask, I just might tell you the truth..

So, these days if you ask me how I'm feeling, I just might be tempted to tell the truth, which would sound a little something like this:
I'm pregnant
I'm carrying the baby so low I'm in experiencing neuro-muscular pain, sometimes so severe I can barely get a breath in.
I can barely walk without cramping and contracting
I have serious skin-rash issues right now
I can't sleep very well;
One reason is I can't get comfortable, and
Another reason is I am constantly congested at night.
I get charlie horses often
Usually in the middle of the night
Another reason for poor sleep.
I am really forgetful, and a little bit dumber.
I am clumsy. I gotta blame the hormones on that one.
My ligaments feel totally stretched out and therefore hurt.
I have lower back pain.
I am getting headaches often.
My digestive system is way out of wack.
I'll spare the details.
Jax accidentally hit me in the face today with a heavy book.
My face now hurts.
I have a HUGE cold sore on my lower lip.
I'm pretty sure two of my teeth have cavities.
To top it off, Jax and I have a really bad cold that hit full force this morning.
My sinuses are killing me
So is my nose from wiping it so much.
But I guess things could be worse.
I could have had severe diarrhea like Jax did today (he dirtied 12 diapers, poor kid)

So, that's it!! Aren't you so glad you didn't ask? :)
I feel a little better getting that off my chest (which also hurts, don't ask me why)

Looks good enough to eat!

Well, it's official: My first year planting a small garden was a success! I was a little hesitant to start one this year because our yard gets more shade than sun, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well the tomatoes and peppers did. My green and yellow peppers didn't thrive, but overall I'm very happy with the result. Each day I go out back and pick the newly ripened grape tomatoes from the vine and it just makes me smile. I have a goal to plant a garden every year from now on.
