This sweet little girl is 6 weeks old already.  This past month has been a whirlwind.  She and I have not had the easiest time with nursing.  Okay..that doesn't really describe it well.  Let me try that again: it's going really, really badly.  There you have it!  The truth.  2 lactation consultants have pretty much told me she has developed a "bad suck" and that it's now a habit and habits can be hard to break.  She would smack and click while nursing and sort of slurp down milk with a whole bunch of air and I couldn't for the life of me get her little lips to do the crucial "fish lips" thingy..she would get angry when we'd try to force her lips in position and respond by curling them in tighter just to show us who's really the boss around here.
So, now I am pumping (which I hate) and feeding her with a Dr. Brown's bottle (which is going better).  She still smacks a bit and does all sorts of funky things with her tongue on the bottle but she's not really swallowing much air and for the past 3 days she's been SOOOOOOO much less fussy.  Did you notice all the O's?  That means my life is seriously less stressful with a much happier baby.
So I'm not sure if nursing will be an options anymore but I am going to try in a few weeks to see if she can latch better cause I hate pumping so much sometimes I dream about hitting the darn thing with a hammer.  A big hammer.
I'm in love with this girl there's not doubt about it.

K

Jax is in KINDERGARTEN!
We spent 10 minutes discussing the spelling of Kindergarten.  Jax thought it strange it has a T in it.  I told him sometimes words are just spelled weird sometimes and there is nothing you can do about it :)  Those types of answers don't sit well in his logical/literal brain :)

He looked so dang handsome in his school uniform.

I am very impressed with GWA so far.

His teacher is very cool and very willing to work with us in helping Jax stay challenged academically.  She realizes he is reading at a 5th grade level ( her estimation).
I am confident we are making the right choice in sending him to this school.  He needs the social exposure and needs to learn orders and rules and following directions- the list goes on and on.  I am thrilled for this opportunity for him,

So, his first day was a huge success.  He came home happy and well regulated, which is a seriously HUGE deal!  Way to go buddy I am so proud of you :)
And yes.....yes I did shed  about 5 tears after dropping him off for 7 hours of school.

Just stick this sign on my forehead and that about sums up my last few weeks or so :)

I feel very behind with just....life! Ya know?

Things around here are busy and crazy and loud and wonderful- in all seriousness  life is good.

The boys start school next week (do you hear the angels singing?)

I'm doing the happy dance just thinking about it.

I sometimes feel guilty when I ask other moms if they are as excited for their kids to start school as I am and I hear them sadly say, "oh I'll miss them so much"..

Hmmm.

I guess I'll miss mine too.....but if I'm being honest I'm excited for them to be socializing and learning- and they NEED the socializing- big time.  Summertime brings dips in Jax's social skills big time.  He needs the structure and routine of kindergarten and he needs to be around other kids his age.

Speaking of age...I feel dang old. Watching the Olympics the other day made me feel just....old!

One announcer was talking about how a certain athlete was  under performing and thought her age was the reason for her decline in skills.

yeah...she was 28.

I'm that plus quatro.

Yikes and I do I ever feel old.

I'm ready to get my butt back up (literally....it's sorta sagging to the floor) as well as tighten up all that wiggles and jiggles.

Okay enough about me..it's the sweet little baby you want to hear about am I right?

Jovi girl is so tiny and easy and eats like a champ and sleeps like a champ and never, ever cries!!!.....

Oh wait...sorry- I was describing the dream I had last night.

She's none of those things....

Oh wait, I lied..she's still so tiny ;)

I love her to pieces and we're trying to figure out how to help her poor tummy feel better and how to get her to latch on right.

You'd think by now we'd be pros.

We're not.

Oh I'm reminded that I never posted about her birth story.

Here's the quickie

The docs said she was measuring small, that coupled with my low lying placenta they decided to induce me on Friday the 13th.  Good thing I'm not superstitious.  Well, they gave me pitocin and it took me 8 hours to go from 1-5 cm.   At 6pm I sent Jared to our home to say hi to my mom (who was in town watching the boys) and let him run a few errands (we had just moved into our home 5 days prior and he was super uper stressed/busy with things)

Back at the hospital I then proceeded to go from 5 to 10 cm dilated in one hour flat.  Yeah so anyways the nurse comes in at 7 pm to check me and says
"um, you're complete and her head is like..right there!!  Don't push K, cause the doc is 10 minutes away and where the heck is your husband??"

I called Jared who didn't answer his phone.  I tried 5 more times with no luck.  Come to find out he was vacuuming upstairs and didn't hear me :)

I get a hold of him finally and he speeds over to the hospital.  He and doc got there at the same time.  Doc takes one look at me and gets ready to play catch.

Contraction comes, I push for 10 counts...and out pops the baby.
My babies like to come quickly I guess cause I've never had to push more than 2 contractions for any :)

So Jovi comes out and they put her on my chest and I'm in love.  This sweet little thing was perfect.  7 lbs 5 ounces (they were wrong about her being small, but her head was tiny, in 5th percentile)  And she looked just like Jared to me!  She was screaming and grunting for quite some time.  My mom and the boys came about an hour later.  The boys were seriously adorable with her.  Jax was in heaven and couldn't have been any cuter/sweeter with her.

She was perfectly healthy, and so was I- the delivery was text book easy peasy.

So there you have it...
