rant

Did you know that 115 Children in America died from the Flu last year? The CDC said that 75% of those kids had not been vaccinated against the Flu. The CDC said that if that 75% had been vaccinated none would have died. None.

So, get your Flu shots and please vaccinate your kids.

But please, don't listen to ignorant people like Michele Bachmann. She'll have you believing vaccines will make your children "mentally retarded".

You can google her brainless quote I'm not putting that trash on my blog.

I haven't written about anything political for a while but those of you that know me know how passionate I am that vaccines save lives and they are necessary and safe.

I am so furious over her comments I could just scream.

Final Florida Adventure: Cocoa Beach

The beach was fun but it was also nerve wracking. There was a jelly fish warning- hundreds of people had been stung and it was because in the recent storm tons of these fish washed up on beach. They were everywhere. I had to watch Tyce's every step. Jax was a little more vigilant but Tyce would have picked up everyone if I'd let him. It turned out to be a fun albeit quick trip to the beach.

I have a 5 year old.

The morning of Jax's birthday we ate breakfast at Denny's. (Per his request of course). As predicted he wanted to go but didn't want to eat anything :) He downed a huge glass of chocolate milk and called it good. He enjoyed the atmosphere and the maze on the kids menu.
So of course that's all Tyce would stomach as well.

Friend Elijah came over wearing a monkey suite. SOOOOO adorable- we have the same one and Jax threw it on fast as a wink and these two were hilarious.

The last two years we've done "grandparents only" birthday parties for the boys. We have very large families on both sides and there is no fair way to invite everyone and do a whole shebang so we've decided on an intimiate party and it is the very best thing for our boys. We love that the grandparents have all their attention on the birthday boy and Jax loves it because it's not too overwhelming for him and he's able to focus his attention much better.
I'm continuing my tradition of doing ultra simple cakes. Jax gets to help me and it's fun and stress free- and yummy!

Guess who loved the cake the most? Yep, this one.

Not this one.

The highlight of the night was watching him open his Dash incredibles costume. He is very into costumes and super heroes and stuff right now so this was priceless. He LOVES it.
So excited he may just need to use the restroom :)
This is grandpa and Tyce (wearing Jax's superman costume) doing "we-dee-dee".

Grandma helping Jax with his new transformer. Thanks grandma for such a great gift!

Opening his scooter. Pic not showing up for some reason. The scooter doesn't come naturally to Jax so this will be a good thing for him to practice.
More wee-dee-dee just cause it's so darn hilarious. (in person)
Happy Birthday to my sweet Jax. He is adorable and fun and we can't get enough of him.
Coming up...more Florida pics

Florida part 3: Gatorland Zoo

This place is very cool if you're a gator lover. Jared was like a little kid he loved it so much. He even bought an alligator tooth. It was very hot but we pretty much had the place to ourselves (can I just say how awesome traveling in the off-season is?). Jax was not so much a fan as was expected- not because he's afraid of animals or anything like that he's just totally indifferent to their existence whatsoever. He did however enjoy the splash park and train.

These macaws were amazing. My boys love the movie Rio so they were excited to see these guys.

Jared and the albino gator. Cool.

Jax was picked to help this gator wrestler. Jax was asked to pick out a gator for the guy to wrestle. He was a little dysregulated and had a hard time focusing and answering questions but he did okay, he actually pointed to one after some prodding from the guy. Jax then made the crowd laugh when instead of answering the question, "would you like to see me wrestle that gator?" Jax said in the mike, "Hey you have some tattoos on your arm!" SOOOOOO funny and very memorable. Everyone got a kick out of it :)

It was hot. and humid. and hot. did I say it was humid? well, it was. very.

Awwww cool relief! This splash part was a perfect way to cool down. Yeah we didn't know it was there so yeah, we didn't have swim suits but whatever they had fun.
